The Cornhuskers of the Big Twelve Conference under their second year Head Coach Bill Callahan finished their regular season at 7-4 Straight Up, and an Even Stephen 5-5 Against The Spread this season. They closed strong with a SU win but ATS loss at Home over Kansas State, then blew out Colorado in their final event, 30-3 SU as 17.5 point Dogs. The Huskers have done well in this Bowl Game, and are 2-0 SU and ATS in Bowl wins in 2000 and 2003 in this Dome. Other positive trends include 4-2 ATS versus winning teams, and 5-2 ATS with rest.
The Wolverines finished in the Top Twenty under their long-tenured Head Coach Lloyd Carr with a 7-4 SU, and 6-4-1 ATS record out of the Big Ten Conference. This is the first year in ten that they did not make a January Bowl Game. The Wolverines were 1-5-1 ATS as Favorites this season, and one might wonder how excited they are to be playing in this lesser Bowl event. Other negative trends include 13-32 ATS as Favorites in this point range, and 36-44 ATS versus winning teams.
The line overnited at Wolverines -13.5 and has been dropping. We'll go with the Cornhuskers here tonight in a Good Free Play. The Falcons of the NFC South under their second year Head Coach Jim Mora, Jr. are 8-5 Straight Up, and 7-6 Against The Spread this season. They have been inconsistent this year, but did rebound on Monday Night to win SU and ATS at Home over the Saints, 36-17 as 10 point Favorites. Falcon's games have gone Under the Total in their last three Road events, and Defense should be the word tonight in the Windy City. Other positive trends favoring the Under involving the Falcons include 6-1 ATS off a SU win in Division Play, and 10-4 ATS in games played on grass.
Da Bears of the NFC North under their second year Head Coach Lovie Smith are 9-4 SU and 8-4-1 ATS on the year. They failed last week at the Steelers as Dogs, but return Home to the Falcons who they are on a 4-0 ATS run against. The Bears win games by playing great Defense and using ball control Offense, and this game should be no different. Positive trends involving the Bears and Under the Total include 6-1 ATS at Home, 8-2 ATS when the Total is less than 35 points, and 9-2 ATS in games played on grass.
