    Under 8 Tampa Bay/Baltimore – McClung/Johnson (3 Units)

There was concern for Jason Johnson after he left his last start against the Royals with a blister on the middle finger of his pitching hand. However, it calloused over and he wasn’t bothered during a bullpen session yesterday and will take his AL 2nd ranked ERA into Camden Yards against Tampa Bay. He has allowed just 4 earned runs in his last 4 starts spanning 22 innings. To go along with his 2.21 ERA, he has a 1.11 WHIP and a .188 BAA helping him to a 4-1 record this season. He will face Seth McClung, who rebounded nicely after getting pounded by the Twins 2 games back. Taking out that outing and he has an ERA of 1.62 in his other 22 innings pitched going back to his bullpen assignments earlier in the season. He has pitched 12.2 innings against the Orioles during this stretch and has allowed just 5 hits and a single run. After the Twins start, he was off for 10 days and the rest looked like it did him some good. In his recent win over the Tigers, ``I did the same thing I did tonight in the start in Minnesota,'' McClung said. ``It's just the results were different. The same with the start against Baltimore [April 25], and the results were kind of the same.'' Baltimore is 12th in the AL with a .714 OPS while the Devil Rays aren’t much better, ranked 11th with a .727 OPS. Tampa Bay has had troubles against righties on the road, hitting only .249 while the Orioles are hitting .242 at home this season, second worst to the Tigers in the league. Both teams bring two of their top pitchers to the hill tonight and with the offensive struggles of both teams in their respective situations, this has the makings of a low scoring affair.
