    NBA Basketball
    5 Units on Dallas Mavericks -2½ -110
The Mavs reached the conference finals in 1988, when they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games. Dallas was routed here in Game One before returning the favor in a 132-110 triumph in Game Two, when the team scored an NBA playoff-record 83 points in the first half. The Mavs followed it up with a thrilling victory in double overtime at Arco Arena on Saturday, 141-137, before looking lethargic in a 99-83 defeat 24 hours later. Hedo Turkoglu scored 17 points to lead six players in double figures for the Kings, who at least for the night were able to overcome the absence of injured star Chris Webber. Sacramento never trailed and took the lead for good, 10-8, on a basket by Turkoglu 4 1/2 minutes into the contest. Nick Van Exel, who had scored 40 points in Game Three and was averaging 32 in the series, was held to five points - all in the fourth quarter. All-Stars Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash added just 11 and six, respectively. Nowitzki was ejected with 2:20 to play after kicking some Mavs gear after he was whistled for a technical foul.

    MLB Baseball
    3 Units on Philadelphia Phillies -1½ +115 (Webb-R, Millwood - R)
Millwood looks to extend his unbeaten streak to four games when the Phillies host the Arizona Diamondbacks. Millwood began his career in Atlanta in 1997, and went 75-46 for the Braves before being traded to Philadelphia in December for minor-league catcher Johnny Estrada. In Atlanta, Millwood pitched behind the likes of Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and John Smoltz. He went 18-8 with a 3.24 ERA last season, but the Braves opted to deal the right-hander because they couldn't afford to pay both him and Maddux. Millwood has shown he is a No. 1 starter now that he is out of the shadow of Atlanta's three star pitchers, though he won't call himself the ace of Philadelphia's staff. Millwood is 5-1 with a 3.47 ERA, and is 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA in his last four starts, including a no-hitter April 27 against the San Francisco Giants. He has allowed more than three earned runs in just one of his eight starts this season, and is sixth in the NL with 46 strikeouts. ``I think ace is just a name that you're called,'' Millwood said. ``I don't think about being the ace or whatever. I've always expected a whole lot out of myself, and it didn't change when I got here. Whether I'm the one guy or the two guy or the five guy, it doesn't matter.'' Millwood is 5-1 with a 1.76 ERA in seven career starts against Arizona, but is facing a Diamondbacks team that has won four of its last five road games after starting the season 4-9 away from home. Arizona began its six-game road trip in Pittsburgh, and won two of three against the Pirates after Sunday's 2-1 victory.

    2 Units on Milwaukee Brewers +1½ -150 (Estes - L, Quevedo - R)
The Cubs had a season-high 19 hits in Monday's 11-5 win over the Brewers -- their third victory in four games. ``We hit the ball great tonight,'' manager Dusty Baker said. ``We were hitting the ball hard. Nights like tonight, you just have to enjoy them.'' Moises Alou tied a career high with four hits, and Mark Grudzielanek also had four for Chicago, which scored nine runs against the St. Louis Cardinals Sunday at Wrigley Field before the game was postponed by heavy wind and rain in the top of the fifth inning. On Monday, Alou, Damian Miller and Troy O'Leary homered for the Cubs, who began a 14-game road trip -- their longest in 20 years. Chicago did it all without slugger Sammy Sosa, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday after having the toenail removed from his big toe.
