4 Units on New Jersey Nets +1 -110
The Nets, who beat the Celtics in six games in the Eastern Conference finals last season, took a commanding 3-0 lead with a 94-76 triumph in Game Three on Friday. New Jersey, which entered the NBA in 1976-77, had won only one playoff series before last year. No team ever has come back from a 3-0 deficit in an NBA playoff series. Kenyon Martin scored 25 points in Game Three and Richard Jefferson 20 for the Nets, who also received nine points, 11 rebounds and nine rebounds from Jason Kidd. Boston's Antoine Walker contributed 15 points and 15 rebounds but shot just 6-of-17. After getting heckled by a fan when he exited the game with 4:24 left, Walker put his left hand in the right side of the man's face and pushed him. The league is investigating the incident. Walker is shooting just 29 percent in the series (34-of-119). Paul Pierce paced the Celtics with 23 points but connected on just 8-of-22 shots. Tony Delk added 16 points for Boston, which shot just 35 percent and allowed New Jersey to shoot 49 percent. The Nets attempted 36 free throws, making 22, while the Celtics tried only 16. The Celtics last were swept by Detroit in 1989, 3-0. They have not been swept in a best-of-seven series since Milwaukee accomplished the feat in 1983.

3 Units on Pittsburgh Pirates +1½ -160 (Linebrink-R, Torres-R)
The 25-year-old shortstop looks to build upon the best offensive game of his career when the Astros open a four-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. Everett had a career-high three hits and also drove in two runs and stole two bases Sunday, as Houston avoided a three-game sweep with a 10-7 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Despite losses in the first two games of the set, the Astros have won eight of 10. Everett is batting .333 with five RBIs since being recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on May 2 to replace Lugo. Lugo, the Astros' shortstop since 2000, was placed on waivers May 2 after getting arrested April 30. He was charged with misdemeanor assault for allegedly attacking his wife at Minute Maid Park before Houston's loss to the Atlanta Braves. Though Houston manager Jimy Williams lost a mainstay to his lineup, he has been impressed by Everett's play since the promotion.
2 Units on Milwaukee Brewers +210 (Prior - R, Rusch - L)
Sosa was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday after having the toenail removed from his big right toe. Sosa had been plagued by chronic irritation of the toenail for the last month and it did not respond to treatment. Prior may only pitch once every five days, but his talent and poise has established him as one of the top pitchers in baseball at age 22. He is 4-1 with 52 strikeouts and a major league leading 1.65 ERA in seven starts. The opposition is hitting just .179 against him. Prior has failed to earn a decision in his last two starts despite allowing two earned runs and striking out 14 batters in 12 innings of work. The right-hander could end his winless streak against a Brewers lineup with a .246 batting average and the third highest strikeout total in the majors (280). First baseman Richie Sexson is Milwaukee's best hitter. Sexson has hit well against the Cubs with a .292 batting average and 11 home runs in 39 career games against Chicago. Sexson is tied for the major league lead in home runs with 12 to go with his team-high 25 RBIs. Milwaukee has lost three of four and is coming of a 7-5 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday. Eric Young hit the Brewers first inside-the-park homer in eight years. Geoff Jenkins and Eddie Perez also homered. The loss dropped Milwaukee 7 1/2 games behind the Cubs in the NL Central division. Chicago split its two games against the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend. The final game of the three-game series was postponed by rain in the top of the fifth inning Sunday.
