Game: Kentucky at Indiana
Sport: NCAA - National Collegiate Athletic Association
Line: Total 50.5 over -110
Prediction: Over 50.5 -110
Explanation: 2 Units
This game has all the makings of another shootout, just like last year’s 51-32 game. Both of these clubs are better offensively than defensively, and both have the talent level to score quick touchdowns on special teams as well. Kentucky has a bad defense. Louisville scored touchdowns on four of their first five drives against them in their opener. 1-AA Idaho St put up 448 yards of offense against them last week. In the two games, the Wildcats have given up 31 and 29 points. With scholarship limitations and all kinds of attrition on defense, we can expect Kentucky to have real problems with depth in the second half of games, wearing down late.
Indiana’s defense isn’t much better. The Hoosiers gave up 400 yards of offense to Central Michigan in their opener. Last week, they allowed 1-AA Nicholls St to gain 409 rushing yards against them. The Hoosiers needed a last minute touchdown to win 35-31! This defense, too, lacks depth, and we can expect them to struggle against a mobile quarterback like Kentucky’s Andre Woodson, who’s got a pretty good arm to go along with his legs. First year Head Coach Terry Hoeppner’s new spread offense is taking hold quickly for the Hoosiers. QB Blake Powers has looked outstanding, throwing for 291 yards per game in his first two collegiate starts. Watch for frosh receiver James Hardy, Jahkeen Gilmore and Marcus Thigpen, a playmaking trio. Indiana’s passing game is ahead of their running game; so is Kentucky’s. We can expect both teams to be throwing the football early and often in this intense rivalry, which is always good for Over bettors. And let’s not forget the special teams. Indiana’s Lance Bennett had three return touchdowns last year. Kentucky’s Keenan Burton has a 93 yard kick return and a 30 yard punt return already this season, while Rafael Little has a 99 yard kick return touchdown. A cheap special teams score or two will go a long way towards cashing our ticket on the Over here.
