Game: Cincinnati Reds at Chicago Cubs 8:05 p.m. ET

Sport: MLB - Major League Baseball

    Line: Chicago Cubs (Williams) -133

    Prediction: Chicago Cubs (Williams) -133

    Explanation: 1 Unit

Arms Must Start: Cincinnati - Brandon Claussen / Chicago - Jerome Williams

The Cubs are six games back in the National League Wildcard race and need to make a move right now!

After this three game series with Cincinnati, Chicago will host a four-game set versus NL Central leader St. Louis before travleing to NL Wildcard leader Houston for three more. The last thing the Cubs want to do is drop two or three games to a Reds team that is 13 games below the .500 mark. That would really hurt especially with division power on deck.

It is noted that Chicago has lost five straight and is just 2-8 SU in its last 10 games. However, Cincinnati is a team the Cubs can beat. The Reds have struggled in division play all season long (16-28 SU) and haven't enjoyed any success at all on the road this year (16-33 SU).

Chicago's bats were silent in its six-game road trip averaging only 2.5 runs and hitting a dismal .235. Those numbers will change tonight. Cincinnati pitcher Brandon Claussen hasn't found an answer for Chicago posting an 0-3 career mark against the Cubs. In those three starts, Claussen has allowed 17 earned runs, 23 hits (eight home runs) and five walks in only 12.1 innings of work. That translates into a lofty ERA of 12.41! Also, Claussen has been hit hard in his last three starts allowing 15 earned runs and 17 hits in 17 innings (7.94 ERA)

As for the Cubs, they will go with Jerome Williams. The 23-year-old is 0-2 in two starts at Wrigley Field this season. Earlier in the season Williams tossed 7 2/3 innings and allowed four runs on six hits en route to a 9-4 victory over the Reds. In two career starts against the Reds, Williams is 1-0 with a 4.26 ERA.

Under the Wrigley Field lights, watch Chicago pitcher Jerome Williams pick up his first home win to help keep his team within the wild card race. Play Chicago Cubs

Predicted Final: Chicago Cubs 5 Cincinnati Reds 4
