2 Units Cincinnati Reds (Harang) -124
Game: Atlanta Braves at Cincinnati Reds 7:10 p.m. ET
Sport: MLB - Major League Baseball
Line: Cincinnati Reds (Harang) -124
Prediction: Cincinnati Reds (Harang) -124
Explanation: 2 Units
Arms Must Start: Atlanta - Kyle Davies / Cincinnati - Aaron Harang Record
The Braves are hot right now and it’s been the pitching that has been keeping them going. Atlanta has won 12 games since the All-Star break and of those wins, the pitching has allowed four runs or less in 11 of the games. The only time that more than four runs were scored was with Kyle Davies on the hill. The offense has topped four runs only six times in their 18 games since the break.
Davies has had a rough go of it lately as he has only two quality starts in his last eight outings, posting a 6.37 ERA and a 1.78 WHIP during that span. Atlanta is just 3-5 in those eight starts and the Braves are 2-4 in his six road starts and have dropped three straight. Davies has a 4.55 ERA on the road this year and an astronomical 1.99 ratio that doesn’t look to get any better.
The Reds go with Aaron Harang who is back to winning games after going winless in June. He finished July with a 3.14 ERA and 0.98 WHIP so things are really turning back to normal. The Reds have won three of his last four starts after dropping seven straight prior to that. Harang faced the Braves once last season and pitched very well despite getting the no decision.
The Reds are actually playing better than the Braves and they are off a winning July, the first since May 2004, and they are 13-6 since the All-Star break which is the second best record in the Majors. Cincinnati has scored six runs or more in six of their last seven games and another offensive performance like that should come their way on Thursday to take the series. Play Cincinnati Reds
Predicted Final: Cincinnati Reds 6 Atlanta Braves 5
