    MONDAY FREE PLAY

    10.05pm ET
    Tulsa (7-16) at Nevada (20-5)

    Recommended Play: Nevada -12

    Preview courtesy of TSN:

Western Athletic Conference foes are set to square off in Reno tonight, as the first-place Nevada Wolf Pack plays host to the last-place Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Tulsa had dropped two straight decisions heading into Saturday's Bracket Buster matchup with Northern Arizona, but that contest resulted in a 79-64 victory. This season has been full of disappointment for the Golden Hurricane, which has managed only seven wins in its 23 games, including a 3-10 record against WAC competition. Only one of the team's eight true road games has resulted in a win, and that triumph came at New Mexico State six weeks ago. As for Nevada, it is two games up on second-place UTEP in the WAC standings and will likely win the regular-season title barring a late collapse. The Wolf Pack is currently riding the wave of a six-game winning streak that includes a 74-64 decision over Vermont in Saturday's Bracket Buster action. The 64 points were actually the most surrendered by the team during its current run, as opponents didn't score more than 60 points in any of the other five victories. Although Tulsa holds an 8-4 edge in the all-time series with Nevada, the Wolf Pack posted a 75-69 decision over the Golden Hurricane earlier this season.

Tulsa freshman point guard Brett McDade played like an experienced veteran on Saturday, as he finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, six assists and no turnovers in the win over Northern Arizona. Jarius Glenn pitched in 17 points in that clash, and Anthony Price contributed 14 points. Rounding out the double-digit scorers for the Golden Hurricane was Seneca Collins with 12 points. Tulsa connected on 16-of-20 free-throw attempts in the contest, and the club also limited the Lumberjacks to just 36.1 percent shooting from the field. Clearly, those two factors contributed to the victory. Glenn is averaging 17.0 ppg and 6.7 rpg to go along with 85 assists, all three of which are team highs. Price adds 14.3 ppg to the lineup, and McDade is netting 10.1 ppg against WAC competition. Ironically, Tulsa has committed the same number of turnovers (347) as it has forced this season.

Nick Fazekas has led Nevada in scoring in 21 of the 25 games played this season, and he has been tops on the boards in seven of the last eight tilts.

Fazekas is averaging 21.3 ppg and 9.1 rpg, and he figures to be the front- runner for WAC Player of the Year at this point because of his tremendous production and the team's overall success. Kevinn Pinkney adds some balance to the lineup for the Wolf Pack with 12.9 ppg and 7.1 rpg, and it is obvious that the strength of the squad is its frontcourt. Nevada is surrendering only 61.5 ppg on 39.0 percent shooting from the field, tremendous defensive numbers.

Fazekas was impressive against Vermont in the Bracket Buster win, as he tallied 31 points to go along with 14 rebounds. Ramon Sessions pitched in 16 points for the Wolf Pack, which turned the ball over just six times in the clash and outscored Vermont 23-6 from the foul line.

Nevada is the obvious pick in tonight's game, as it is far superior to Tulsa in all aspects. Expect another huge outing from Fazekas, who seems to improve with every game.

    Good luck
    Mike Thomas
