The red hot Memphis Grizzlies shoot for their seventh consecutive win this evening, when they tangle with the Indiana Pacers at the FedExForum.
Memphis has won nine of its last 11 overall, including an 84-76 victory over New Orleans last Friday night. Pau Gasol had 20 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Grizzlies to the win.
Shane Battier had 19 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high five blocked shots for the Grizzlies, who have moved over .500 (18-17) for the first time this season. Mike Miller tacked on 16 points in the winning effort, while Lorenzen Wright grabbed 10 rebounds.
Memphis hit 44.9 percent of its shots, including 8-of-22 from three-point range. The Grizzlies hit 14-of-15 from three free throw line.
The Grizzlies were missing forward Brian Cardinal, who is out for the next few weeks with a shoulder injury.
The Grizzlies have registered a 13-6 mark under head coach Mike Fratello, who took over for Hubie Brown. Memphis has posted a 11-7 record at FedExForum on the year. The Grizzlies are in the midst of a stretch of four home tilts in five contests.
Indiana is headed in the opposite direction with three consecutive losses, including an ugly 124-89 defeat to Phoenix on Sunday night. It was the Pacers' most lopsided defeat in more than 10 years, when they dropped a 129-90 decision to Charlotte on April 6, 1994.
Jamaal Tinsley led the Pacers with 21 points, while forward Jermaine O'Neal finished the game with 16 points. Anthony Johnson and David Harrison posted 10 points apiece off the bench.
Indiana shot 39.8 percent in the loss, while allowing Phoenix to hit 54.3 percent of its shots. The Pacers were destroyed, 55-31, on the boards. Indiana managed 5-of-15 from the three-point range and 18-of-25 from the free throw line.
The Pacers are 1-7 against Western Conference teams on the road this season.
Indiana, which is closing out a four-game road trip, is 7-10 in foreign buildings this season.
Indiana has lost the last three to San Antonio, Dallas and Phoenix by a combined 68 points.
These teams have split the season series in each of the last two seasons with the home team winning each team. Nonetheless, the Pacers have won 14 of the last 17 meetings overall in the series, including six of nine at the Grizzlies.
