SETON HALL PIRATES @ SYRACUSE ORANGEMEN
    SAT JANUARY 8TH @ 7 PM EST

We have two Big East teams facing off, one who is a true contender, and the other you might say is a conference pretender. The Orange enter this game at 14-1 SU, 8-5 ATS and on a seven game winning streak. Their 13 wins before January ties the school record for the most in their vaunted history. The "CUSE" has quality home wins over Mississippi State by thirteen and Memphis by fifteen. Their only loss was on a neutral court to a very good Oklahoma State Cowboy squad. Syracuse has been virtually unbeatable in the "Carrier Dome", and playing in front of thirty thousand plus fans nightly with the tough depth perception can be disconcerting for opponents. Then there is the Syracuse 2-3 zone, that Coach Jim Boeheim seems to always tweak and change to attend to the strength of the opponent. The Orange are led by three year veterans Hakim Warrick ( 21 ppg, 9 reb and 58% fg shooting) and another veteran of the National Title, Gerry McNamara who is having an off year presently at 14 ppg, but shooting only 38% from the field. Gerry always seems to have his biggest games in the Dome so watch out.
The Pirates of Seton Hall are 8-4 after Wednesday's loss to Notre Dame, a contest they could have easily won, and may wish they had back later on in the season. I neglected to mention SH is 2-6 ATS, and 1-3 as an away dog. They really have no quality wins, and posted a disappointing nine point loss to Northwestern on the road. What scares us at RED ZONE SPORTS is they are staring down the barrel into games at PITT and home to UCONN. True Seton Hall has won four of their last five, but it hasn't been against Big East caliber opposition. They rely on tough defense and are holding their opponents to less than 39% shooting from the field, and have out rebounded the opposition by an average of + 7 per outing. Pirates are led by Kelly Whitney averaging 20 ppg and 8 + boards. SH has outscored their foes by an average of 66.2 to 59.3 or a + 6.9. Syracuse counters with 77.6 to 60.0 and a sweet plus 16.7. Our followers know we normally look for the underdog, but we love the "CUSE" in the Carrier Dome. Stick with your experts from RED ZONE SPORTS, take the Syracuse Orangemen, lay the points and cover Saturday evening.
