Some "EZ" Analysis
GS @ Port 2-19-03
-Tonight it will be the "Rumble In The Rose
Garden" as we get a rematch between the GS
Warriors and the Portland Trailblazers!
-The last meeting back on Dec. 20th didn't
end at the final horn with a Wallace buzzer
beater for a 113-111 Port win. It carried
on with punches and Wallace trying to get in
the stands to KO a fan who threw gum on him.
-Wells and Mills ended up with suspensions
and Wallace was fined $15K for his act.
-The refs will likely keep a tight rein on
this one and call every foul they see...with
possibly some they don't see as well!
-The Warriors are giving up points like they
don't even have a game plan to play a game
on the defensive end of the court:
*Last nigh Boston scored 125
*GS allowing an average of 113 in the last 5
*Port scored 113 back in Dec.
-These facts.....coupled with the fact I bet we
see the refs get control early.....leads me to
believe we see some points scored in this tilt.
-As long as the fouls don't totally disrupt the
flow of the game and the teams run at each other
an over the total of 204 is in reach.
-Last meeting between the teams produced 224 pts.
-Combined numbers for the teams are:
Seasonal ppg scored.......195'
Home/Away ppg scored......194
Last 5 games ppg scored...214
Seasonal ppg allowed......193'
Home/Away ppg allowed.....194'
Last 5 games ppg allowed..211'
-At this stage of the season....I place less
and less weight on the Seasonal averages of
these combined numbers as teams begin to look
and act totally different than they did at
the beginning of the season.
-I feel the last 5 games sure represents the
what we have going with this Warrior team.
These "young-guns" are running and gunning
regardless of the games score.
-One would have to assume BOTH teams have this
game circled and their "manhood" is on the line
for this rematch.
-That fact....has me putting less emphasis on
the idea that this is a back-to-back for GS
and their "jump shooting legs" won't be with
them tonight. Again.....this rematch has
become "personal" for these two "combatants"!
-Jamison's ankle sure doesn't seem to be an
issue as he scored 39 against the Celts last
night......after being rumored as not being
able to go!
-Folks......there will be no motivation needed
by Musselman or Cheeks tonight. The players
will get up for this one all by themselves.
-Looking for fast action out of the blocks in
this game and a few extra free throw line pts.
to help get this one over the 204 total.
