Houston Astros vs. Atlanta Braves NLDS

    Houston Astros -135 (Series Play)

The Braves are in the postseason for the 13th consecutive year but have not fared well recently. They’ve dropped their first round series in 4 of the last 5 years and they are now the unfamiliar role as the3 underdog. This is a team on the decline while Houston is going in just the opposite direction. The Astros have never won a playoff series and this will be the 4th meeting against the Braves in the first round. Atlanta has been a Houston killer, winning 9 of the 10 playoff games they have played but they catch a Houston team that is simply on a roll. They have won 36 of 46, the second-best finish in NL history. They have also won a franchise-record 18 consecutive home games. Roger Clemens and Roy Oswalt will take the hill for Houston in their first two games. Clemens was supposed to pitch Sunday but was scratched which ended up being a blessing in disguise. He now will be pitching on normal rest as will Oswalt. This is a huge edge for the Astros as they send their two dominating pitchers out on the road where a split will give them home field advantage back and more than likely a series win. Clemens is 6-1 on the road while Oswalt is 9-6 but he has only lost twice away from home since June 12th. Since June 22nd, the Astros are 32-9 in games started by Clemens and Oswalt. The Game 3 start will likely go to Brandon Backe who pitched a gem Sunday to get Houston into this position. Houston's bullpen has been a concern area all year, but pitched well in the stretch run through the combined efforts of Dan Miceli, Chad Qualls, Chad Harville and Russ Springer. Those four, and lefty Mike Gallo, helped set things up for strikeout record-holder Brad Lidge in the closer's role. Statically, the offenses have right around the same hitting numbers but Houston is hitting better recently. They are hitting .284 over their last 10 games while the Braves are at .256 during that span. The Braves are killing lefties of late but they won’t see any coming from the Astros. Houston is hitting .281 against righties over their last 10 and they will face two in the first two games, Jaret Wright and John Thomson.

You can purchase plays at both sites. The costs and information you receive are identical.
