Bowling Green @ Northern Illinois, 7:00 PM EST, ESPN2
Bowling Green has better skill players, a more dangerous receiving corps, and two weeks of rest to prepare for this showdown. Meanwhile, Northern Illinois is banged up in the offensive backfield with quarterback Josh Haldi out with a stress fracture in his right foot and RB A.J. Harris nursing a shoulder injury. The line opened Northern Illinois (-1) and has since moved to Northern Illinois catching a point at home where they have excellent home field advantage. It appears that the Public has decided to back the BG Falcons (more than likely based on NIU injuries) scaring us off the game. It should be an exciting game with tons of scoring and plenty of points. Our opinion is with the Falcons to pull off the road win and put themselves in the drivers seat for the MAC West Title.
BYU @ Boise State, 10:00 PM EST, ESPN
Similar to last night with Akron, we like BYU and the points against Boise State but are unsure about the Cougars lack of offensive production and their propensity to turn the ball over with 13 turnovers in the teams first three games in 2004. Boise State is an offensive machine. Everybody and their brother loves them, providing excellent value for Cougar backers seeking revenge off last years 50-12 beating (which was a Winning Play of ours on Boise State). Our power rankings suggest that Boise should be favored by 14.5. Also deterring us from playing on BYU is that Boise State is 10-0 SU when playing on ESPN or ESPN2 and 6-0 SU (5-1 ATS) when facing teams from the Mountain West Conference. Combined with the Cougars 3-11 ATS record against WAC conference teams, we are even more leery. Basically, most trends favor Boise State while the line value is with BYU. A no play for us, but a heavy lean with BYU as they will be fired up to redeem themselves from last years horrible loss and may make a game out of this, at least for a short while.
