Today we like the Chicago White Sox (Contreras +$125) against Oakland (Redman). Contreras has been a steal for the Sox, especially since Loaiza cannot get anyone out in New York. Contreras is 2-1 with a 3.93 Era over his last three starts and has upped his record to 12-6. His teams are also 16-8 over his 24 starts this season and he is 1-0 versus the A's this season. The A's have been hot, but Redman is only 9-10 this season and 0-1 versus the Sox. We see the value in the corner of the home dog here in this early game.
We also like Tampa Bay (Brazleton -$130) against Baltimore (Bedard). Sure the O's have won three straight and Rays have dropped five, but the pitching match up belings to Tampa and they actually have a very nice record at Tropicana Field, 36-32. Brazleton is 6-5 on the season so far in fifteen starts, with the Rays' record at 9-6 during those appearances. He is also 2-1 over his last three starts, lasting 16 1/3 innings. The Rays offense will get a boost from the return of Rocco Baldelli from injury. Bedard is 0-3 with a 9.64 Era over his last three starts and a 5-9 overall record. The O's are also 9-15 when he sees the mound so we will lay the cash to back the home team in this early game as well.
