Last nights freeplay on Boston had the Sox exploding for 8 runs in the 4th innings, they put it in cruise control and coasted to a 9-7 final. Lets get to todays action.
Good day everyone, here is my Wednesday Comp MLB Side Play, enjoy.
Wednesday Comp MLB Side Play
Houston @ Arizona
Arizona is having the worst season in team history, now just 31-63 overall the D-backs have not had much more luck at home where the team is just 16-31 this season. It does not help at all that the team is sending up a very hittable starter in this one. Brandon Webb will get the call here for the D's, he's now 3-10 on the season with a 3.89era to this point. Webb has given up 69 runs over 120 innings, and that wouldn't be so bad if he hadn't of given out 67 free passes to first base along the way. Arizona gives this guy NO support whatsoever, it's a big reason that the team is just 1-7 behind his last 8 starts. Over his last 8 starts Webb has seen his team score a measly 2 runs or less 6 times, if that isn't bad enough think about this, Arizona has scored a grand total of 3 runs behind the last 2 starts with Webb. It may be unfortunate and eventually affect his sanity but I expect Webb to get tagged early and often in this one, Arizona won't back him as usual.
The Houston Astros are 45-47 this season, the team is doing alright on the road where they are now 22-24 and looking good coming into this one. Houston will send up Andy Pettitte in this one, he is now 5-3 with a 4.40era thus far, Pettitte has given up 30 runs over 59 innings, he has walked just 25 while striking out 60 along the way as well. Houston is 6-3 with Pettitte over his last 9 starts, they have given up a total of just 9 runs combined over his last 4 road starts. Houston is 3-1 behind the arm of Pettitte in the last 4 on the road, Pettitte and the Astros shutout Pittsburgh completely, they went into Atlanta and won holding the Braves to just one run in the game, they lost 7-4 at Cincinnati & the last Pettitte road start had him giving up just two runs over seven innings in a 3-2 win against Los Angeles. Pettitte will allow a few runs here, we already know this, though we also expect the Astros to score early and often here.
