Anaheim is 19-18 on the road this season but that mark is rather average, being just average isn't going to cut it here against an Oakland team that dominates this particular situation. The Angels will send up John Lackey in this one, he is just 5-8 on the season with a brutal looking 5.16era to this point. Lackey has given up 96 hits over 89 innings, he's allowed 53 runs this season while giving out 23 free passes to first base. The Angels give this guy such little support that they've now lost 7 of his last 10 starts, that includes the last four straight starts from Lackey. He's been particularly bad as of late, Lackey has given up a whopping 12 runs over his last 8 innings of work, the Angels lost those two contests by a combined score of 17-7. Lackey will get rocked in this one.
As I mentioned earlier, the A's truly do dominate this situation. Oakland is 41-33 on the season but they are 24-12 at home, that's a huge advantage at this time of year. Oakland has the luxury to send up Mark Mulder in this one, he is a sizzling 9-2 on the year with a gorgeous 2.76era to date. Mulder has given up just 37 runs over 111 innings already this season, he's given up just 9 homeruns so we have no worries about him getting hurt by the longball on this night. The A's are red hot with Mulder on the mound, they are now 8-1 over his last 9 appearances, that includes Oakland scoring 13 runs or more in three of those victories. Mulder has given up just 3 runs his last 17 innings.
