Hofstra +2.5
The return of leading scorer Rick Apodaca has given the Pride a much needed spark that they were missing during their first 14 games when they went 2-12. Since his return from suspension, Hofstra is 3-2 and very well could be 5-0 if not for foul trouble. In their two losses during this stretch, they have been out shot 52-17 and out scored 37-11 at the free throw line. They have also stiffened up defensively, allowing only 39.7% shooting and 26.3% from behind the arc. One of those losses came to this same Drexel team by 12 points just over a week ago. They only went to the line 8 times compared to 30 times for the Dragons and shot a poor 38% from the floor. Apodaca was only 4-17, including 2-12 three-point shooting. Don’t expect that same performance again. A positive from that came on the offensive glass where they grabbed 11 rebounds but that is bound to happen when they missed as many shots as they did. Bottom line is that this team is improving while Drexel has stumbled in their last two games and while they are 5-5 on the road, that mark includes two bad losses against Niagara and Quinnipiac. Expect Hofstra to extract some revenge for their earlier loss and pull out the home win.
