The WhiteSox are in a losing situation here, the team is just 13-14 on the road and they are sending up a VERY hittable pitcher. Chicago will send up Scott Schoeneweis in this one, he is just 5-4 on the season with a mortal looking 4.18era as well. Schoeneweis has given up 38 runs off of 76 hits over 75 innings of work. Much more shocking, Schoeneweis has almost as many walks as he does strikeouts, he's already given out 34 free passes to first and only has 48 strikeouts on the season. Chicago has lost both his last starts, there was the 4-2 loss at Seattle where all four runs were given up in the five innings Schoeneweis pitched, his last start was a 6-4 loss hosting Atlanta where he gave up 5 runs over six innings, Chicago is done with this guy throwing.
Florida is 35-28 on the year, they are in a winning situation here with a 16-12 record at home PLUS they are starting a very sharp pitcher here. Carl Pavano will be on the mound for this one, he is already 6-2 on the year with a very attractive 3.10era to go along with his winning record. Pavano has given up just 30 runs over an incredible 87 innings of work, only 8 of those runs came courtesy of the longball. Pavano has walked just 20 batters all year while striking out 48 along the way. This guy comes to play HARD and it shows as the Marlins have lost just twice over his last 10 appearances, the team is now undefeated the last four straight which Pavano has appeared. Over the last four starts from Pavano the Marlins have outscored the opposition by a whopping 25-9, that includes their 13-5 slaughter when they hosted Arizona. Pavano has given up just 7 runs his last 30 innings, he's on fire right now allowing just 2 runs his last 16 innings. Pavano and the Marlins have given up just 4 runs his last three starts combined, this guy knows how to win a ballgame.
