The Brewers and Dodgers play the second game of their three game set in Los Angeles. In tonight's pitching matchup, Ben Sheets takes the mound for the Brewers while Jeff Weaver pitches for the Dodgers. Sheets comes in 5-3 with a 2.71 ERA in his first 11 starts this year. He has allowed 25 runs on 58 hits, with 11 walks and seven homers in 73.0 innings and his 77 strikeouts ranks 2nd in the NL behind Arizona's Randy Johnson (90). Sheets is beginning to look more and more like an All-Star for the Brewers. In his five starts in May, he had a 2.19 ERA, with 43 strikeouts versus only eight walks. He beat the Dodgers in his last start on May 27th, allowing just one run on four hits with eight K's, no walks and a homer in 7.0 innings in a 3-1 win. Weaver (7-9, 5.99 ERA with the Yankees in 2003) is struggling a bit in his first year with the Dodgers, going 3-6 with a 4.38 ERA in ten starts. He has allowed 33 runs on 66 hits with 58 K's, 22 walks and 5 homers in 63.2 innings pitched. In his last start he allowed two unearned runs on just three hits, with eight K's and four walks in 7.0 innings in a 3-1 loss to the Brewers and Sheets. In his last seven starts, the Dodgers are just 2-5.
