NEW YORK METS (Leiter) –123 at ARIZONA (Dessens) +113:

These two teams combined for 20 runs last night, but don’t look for the same result on Tuesday. Al Leiter has been tough all year for the Mets, allowing only 6 runs in 35 innings and is holding opponents to a .201 average. Unfortunately, New York has provided Leiter with much run support, scoring only 9 runs in his 6 starts.
Elmer Dessens has been brutal all year, sporting an ERA over 7 and batters are hitting .341 against him. The Diamondbacks are also only hitting 207 against lefties this season, so look for them to have a tough time tonight. Give New York the edge here on the mound, as they should be able to take advantage of Dessens and finally give Leiter some runs to work with.
