Cincinnati has given the Cubbies all they can handle during this series winning 2 of 3. Nearly every game has been decided in the last inning; however, this should not be the case on Monday.
The Reds starter, Jimmy Haynes is just BRUTAL. His numbers are so atrocious it’s truly incredible that he still has a job. Last season Haynes was (2-12) with a 6.30 ERA, walked 8 more batters than he struck out and allowed opponents to hit over .300 against him. Jimmy’s career stats against the Cubs are just as bad too. It’s likely that any fan in the stadium selected at random to pitch this game could do just as well.
The Cubs Matt Clement turned his career around in 2002 and has been a strong starter since. He’s a big strikeout guy that sometimes struggles with walks. He pitched great at home in his last outing and should do the same on Monday. Yes, Adam Dunn is hitting everything out of the park right now, but if Jimmy Haynes has his typical performance, the Reds will not be able to keep themselves in this one for too long. Yes the line is high, but there is still value to be had as a $100 play would net $58.
