Insider Edge Sports – Report For Sunday, April 18, 2004
We end up dropping 1.4 units on Saturday, which is hardly a dent into the 17 units picked up the two prior days. Our NL Total of the Month was never in doubt as Milwaukee and Houston blew past the total by the fifth inning. For Sunday, we have 5 baseball plays in total along with an NBA Playoff release. A 3-Unit TOP PLAY is part of the action. The first game goes off at 1:00 pm EST this afternoon. As always, the entire card is guaranteed.
#1 Documented in NCAA Hoops! We ended the season +36 units, finishing 1st at Wisetracking and we would have been first at Procappers if unit values were used, since all games are counted as just one unit there. Overall, a great season.

Free Service Play For Sunday, April 18, 2004
Chicago White Sox (Loaiza) at Tampa Bay Devil Rays (Gonzalez) 1:15 pm EST
Over 10 Chicago (Loaiza)/Tampa Bay (Gonzalez) –110 (2 Units)
As good as Estaban Loaiza has been, the Devil Rays have not been kind to him. He is 4-6 with a 8.24 ERA in 15 lifetime starts against Tampa Bay. It gets worse on the road as he is 1-3 with a 10.29 ERA and 2.29 ratio in 6 starts at Tropicana Field. After a great 2003, he has started this season average at best, lasting 6 innings in both starts against Kansas City while allowing 12 hits, 5 in which were home runs. He's pitching just well enough to keep his team in the game meaning a lot of run support is behind him. The teams combined have averaged 12 runs in his two starts. Carl Crawford, Rocco Baldelli, Aubrey Huff, Robert Fick, Brook Fordyce, Tino Martinez, Julio Lugo and Toby Hall all are hitting .300 or better lifetime against Loaiza. Jeremi Gonzalez gets the start for Tampa Bay and he might help the White Sox break out of their short hitting slump. They have scored 4 runs in their last 2 games against Tampa Bay but that should change here. Gonzalez has a 6.57 ERA against the White Sox in his career while his ERA at Tropicana Field is 5.28. He is off to a horrible start in 2004, going 0-2 and not making it past the 5th inning in either start. He has a 10.24 ERA to go along with a 1.86 WHIP. He struggled in spring training so it comes to no surprise that it is continuing. Pitching coach Chuck Hernandez said he believes Gonzalez just needs to work though it which might take some time. Just enough time to get this over.
