Chicago Cubs (Zambrano) at Atlanta Braves (Ramirez) 7:35 pm EST

    Chicago (Zambrano) +105 (2 Units)

There isn’t a whole lot of history with these starters against the opposition but there is enough to make us take a second look. The Cubs tagged Ramirez last season in his only start against them as he allowed 7 earned runs in 3.2 innings. It was by far his worst outing of the season and one that is sure stuck in hi head. Cubs hitters are 11-28 (.393) against Ramirez. Carlos Zambrano went 13-11 with a 3.11 ERA in his first full season in the majors, and he worked a team-high 214 innings. He was one of the NL's top pitchers after the All-Star break, going 7-3 with a 2.51 ERA and three complete games. He gave up nine home runs all year, joining Pedro Martinez as the only full-season pitchers to give up fewer than 10. He is also in much better shape this season. He hired a personal trainer and did exercises to strengthen his back, which was a problem for him last year. Zambrano has faced the Braves 3 times and is 2-1 in those starts. His ERA is 4.76, certainly not a great one but most of that damage is gone. Current starters are hitting only .167 against him with only J.D. Drew and Mark DeRosa having more than 1 hit off him. He is another pitcher who is much more effective away from home. He is 7-13 with a 3.86 ERA at Wrigley but 11-8 with a 3.25 ERA on the road. That includes 5 shutout innings and a win at Turner Field.
