The Memphis Grizzlies have been a solid playoff team the last couple of years, but haven't been able to turn the corner to make a serious run in the Western Conference. NBA expert picks insiders believe that they will likely finish as a mid or low seed in the Western Conference again this year. They are led by a couple of veteran guys so if they are able to rally their team around them, then they have the potential of being a good team this year. The Suns were one game away from the playoffs last year and are looking to prove that they belong this year. They made a statement by giving the defending champion Spurs their first loss of the season so they will be looking to do the same against Memphis.
The Grizzlies have had great games from veterans Zach Randolph and Tayshaun Prince to begin the season. Randolph and Prince are usually names you hear during the playoffs, but not much during the season. Memphis hasn't played a high level of competition so far, but they are winning games convincingly and playing solid defense.
Defense has been the cornerstone of this team the last couple of seasons, but they haven't been able to score a lot of points at times. That will need to change when they play against the Suns, who like to take a lot of three-point shots. If they get hot from the outside, they can score points in a hurry.
Isaiah Thomas has been a bright spot for the Suns in the first few games this season. They have struggled with getting consistent production from their players. The Morris twins have been decent, but they still have a lot more potential than what they've been showing. Their most solid team performance came in a comeback win at home against the Spurs, but they followed that up with a loss to the Jazz.
Now Memphis comes in and will be looking to stay undefeated. Even though Phoenix allowed a bunch of points to the Jazz in their last game, they have played pretty well defensively so far. The Grizzlies bring some big guys that they have underneath the basket, so the Suns will need to use their perimeter game like they did against the Spurs to win this one.
Both of these teams entered the season with something to prove. After only a few games to start the season, they seem to both be playing with a chip on their shoulder and have looked impressive for the most part. This should be a fairly low scoring game since both teams have thrived on defense so far. The Spurs found out how tough it is to play in Phoenix and the Grizzles will find out the same thing. The Suns will come out hot and be able to put away the Grizzles in the fourth quarter.
