  • AC's RECAP and FREE PLAY 12/18/12

We went 2-3 in football and 2-2 in basketball this week. We got off to a great start with the bowls, going 2-0, including a best bet winner with a very good Utah St team. Needless to say, we did have our worst day of the season in the NFL. But we are still up comfortably for the season, hitting 57% in NCAAF, 53% in NFL, and 68% with our best bets.

Take advantage of our Bowl Special: $29 which includes the rest of the NFL season and a copy of
my e-book "The Winning Edge" which covers the fundamentals of football and basketball,
money management, and tips for selecting a handicapper.

The book is also available for $5.99.

A few things to consider for the upcoming bowl games:

Michigan suspended 3 players, including 2 starters
Iowa St starting RB is out
The following teams have interim head coaches: Western Kentucky, Cinncinati, Texas Tech, NC St, Purdue, N Illinois, and Arkansas St
The following teams have played poorly in bowls in recent years: Georgia Tech, Iowa St, Clemson, Northwestern, Nebraska, Louisville, and Pitt

    NFL

We are at that time of the year to watch for teams sitting players. This is not the case for the Jets. Greg McElroy will start over Mark Sanchez because of ineffectiveness. No reason was given for starting over Tebow. These teams have seemed to mail in the rest of the season to get ahead start on the Holidays: Buffalo, Tampa Bay, San Diego, Jaxsonville, KC, and Detroit. Don't look now, but Denver may be the team to beat in the AFC. Seattle is looking pretty tough in the NFC. This week:
    • Cinn vs Pitt: loser out?
    • NY Giants vs Baltimore: 2 teams that look bad with a chance to look good
    • SF vs Seattle: 2 teams that look good

    UCF vs Ball St
PLAY ON: Ball St + 7

UCF was playing some pretty good football, until a few weeks ago when they played Tulsa the first time, then lost to them again in the C-USA championship. Even though this game is close to home, I can't see them, or their fan base getting too exceited for this game. The Knights still have the edge in overall statistics, particularly on defense, which could lead you to believe they are an easy pick for this game. However, they are practically even on 3rd down and over the final few games of the season, their offense has struggled and the pass defense has been poor. Meanwhile, Ball St played very well down the stretch to get bowl eligible, particularly running the ball and defending the pass. We believe this game means more to them and will fade a disinterested UCF team.
