  • Week 13 Recap and Free Play

We had a so-so week, going 3-4 in football, but we did hit our best bet with Purdue, and 2-2 in basketball. That brings us to 56% in NCAAF, 58% in NFL, and 64% on our best bets, for a total of 12.2 units.

Take advantage of our midseason special of $99 for the rest of the season. This offer also includes
basketball thru the Super Bowl and a copy off my e-book "The Winning Edge" which covers the
fundamentals of football and basketball, money management, and tips for selecting a handicapper
The book is also available for $5.99

    NCAAF

One thing is clear: the BCS Championship will feature Notre Dame vs the SEC Championship, with the Irish being an underdog to either team. If its Alabama, it could be double digits. The end of the season means its coaching carosul time. Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas, NC State, Boston College, and California will be looking for new head coaches. The Auburn job will be tought to fill, at least if you are the Tigers and looking for a top notch coach for a couple of reasons. One is a potential NCAA investigation. The other, and more prominent reason, is Saban will still be at Big Brother. That game on Saturday could have been 70-0 if the Tide would have kepth the foot on the pedal. Also, if the Tide wins the title again, it will be 3 out of 4 years. Not exactly bragging rights or recruting material for the Tigers. But there were some good coaching performances. Some of these guys may move on to bigger and better things.
    • Bill O'Brien - Penn St
    • Brian Kelly - Notre Dame
    • Kevin Sumlin - Texas AM
    • BIll Snyder - Kansas St

The coach of the year vote will be close, but that most likely won't be the case for the Heisman. It would be stunner if Johnny Manziel doesn't become the first freshman to take home the hardware. This week is Championship week:
    • SEC: Bama vs Georgia - winner to the BCS Championship game, loser to the Capital One bowl
    • Big 10: Nebraska vs Wisconsin - someone has to go to the Rose Bowl
    • MAC: No Illinois vs Kent St - winner could be a possible BCS buster if a few other games go their way
    • Big East: Louisville vs Rutgers - If Louisville wins, there will be a multiple team tie for first place. The tie breaker is the BCS standings. What happens if none of the teams are ranked? In the words of one of our favorites, Rick Perry, "eh oops"
    • PAC 12: UCLA vs Stanford - didn't they just play last week?

    NFL

It is that time of year where fans start to look at the draft for some teams. There doesn't appera to be a franchise QB in this years draft. Speaking of QB's, this Colin Kaerpernick talk appears to be a bit premature. The Bears didn't game plan for him and New Orleans isn't exactly a defensive juggernaut. I know it seems everything Jim Harbaugh touches turns to gold, but football in January is a little different than football in November. Can Donnovan McNabb be really that bad where an NFL team would rather go with Brian Leftwhich and Charlie Batch? The Steelers better hope Big Ben comes back....fast...The Bears may be without their starting G's for some time. The hubbub about this red flag gate is a bit out of hand. If the coach knew the rules, there would be no issue, no matter how stupid the rule is. This week:
    1. NO vs Atlanta - the Falcons may be without both theri starting CB's.
    2. Pitt vs Baltimore - if Ben is out, my guess is that the Ravens won't need to convert a 4th and 29 in this one
    3. NY Giants vs Washington - Are the Redskins for real? Can the Giants play two good games in a row?
