Generally when a big conference school plays a mid-major the big school has just that—and advantage in size and exploits it. Not here. University of Louisville senior center Kendall Dartez has zero points and just as many rebounds in an overtime loss to Iowa. Junior forward Otis George, at 6-8, also had no points and no rebounds against Iowa.

Both teams are looking for their first win, but Western has had three games under their belt to improve, while the big chalks have had just one. Darrin Horn the Hilltoppers coach believes his team has improved already.

“I don’t think there’s any question. The whole goal is to make sure we’re playing with that kind of effort,” he said. “I think the progress has been pretty obvious from game to game. We just need to continue that.”

The Cards are still without Nouha Diakite, a 6-9 center because of those goofy eligibility issues.

Rick Pitino, the Cards coach believes this neutral game in Nashville is really like a home game for WK. “We’ll have 3,000 fans, and they’ll have 12,000 to 14,000,” he said. “But that will be good for us to have to deal with that, with some of the games we have up ahead.”
