Remember Mack Brown has struggled to win the big one as coach of Texas. This is not a game against Top 10, which is his biggest Achilles heel, but a win could put them in the BCS and that puts the pressure on Brown under which he has failed miserably.
It’s also A&M’s bowl game as they say. “It’s their house. They’re not going to a bowl game, and they want to knock us out of a BCS game,” Texas WR Roy Williams said.
It’s also the top sharps versus squares game today as most of the sucker money is going with the big chalk.
Rest assured that the Aggies are motivated to play spoiler. Former A&M players have spoken about their experiences in and feelings about the rivalry with Texas.
Jacob Green, an All-America defensive end in 1978 and ‘79, and brothers Bryan, Randy and Chris Dausin have appeared. Players said the speeches have fired them up.
Texas A&M has not lost consecutive home games to Texas since the Longhorns’ visits in 1981 and ‘83. A&M is 7-2 in the teams’ last nine meetings at Kyle Field. Last season, the Aggies upended the No. 1 Sooners, and two years earlier, A&M easily could’ve beaten No. 1 Oklahoma, which went on to win the national championship, before frittering the game away late.
