FREE NBA Pick: Spurs (50-32) at Mavericks (55-27) Date: April 27, 2010 9:30 PM EDT
The Dallas Mavericks are facing a 3-1 deficit to the San Antonio Spurs and they are in a must win situation tonight. Players like Shawn Marion and coach Rick Carlisl who overcame a 3-1 told their team that they have to keep believing in each other, play together, play smarter and a little harder down the stretch and they can get it done. Although, out of 189 teams in a hole this deep, only eight have come back to win the series, tonight's game is the ultimate game and they have to find a way to win Game 5. The Spurs stole Sunday night's game as Duncan, Ginobili and Parker combined for just 31 points, but San Antonio's defense only allowed 11 points in the third quarter. They also got 29 points from George Hill and Antonio McDyess and DeJuan Blair limited Nowitzki to 10 shots and a technical foul. For the Mavs, Dirk Nowitzki is the only player to score at least 10 points in every game. The 3-point shot Kidd discovered this season has not been going in missing 7 of 23 while Marion and Caron Butler have struggled at times on both ends of the court. This series has been physical to the point that it's already wrestling out there. Jason Terry was limited during Monday's workout because of soreness in the left ankle he twisted Sunday night but he will play. The game will be called much closer tonight as the referees are aware of the physicality in this series receiving complaints especially from the Mavericks. The Mavericks had a 14 point lead and are the better team although they lost the game on pure hustle and physical play witnessed by five or six times when DeJuan Blair beat Maverick players to loose balls on the floor. The Mavs will be the team that gets to the loose balls tonight as they are playing for their playoff lives. The Mavs will get more calls at home tonight and get to the free throw line. Other player on the Mavs will step up other than Dirk while the home crowd will give them confidence giving them a double digit victory in the most important game of the season.
