  • Thursday Night CFB GOY Tonight!; 29-14 L 8 Wks With Wise Guy Plays; NBA & NHL Up!

    College Basketball:
    1 Unit on Villanova +11 -110

    Thursday, November 20, 2003

The beat just goes on. Of course led by our only Wise Guy play—our first of the year in CBB on Nevada, we go 2-1 for yet another winning night. Here are just SOME of the numbers:

    1. 29-14 the last eight weeks with all Wise Guy plays; includes three MLB playoff dogs of +170 or more

    2. 8-2 for the year in CBB including our only Wise Guy

    3. 40-20 with all football Wise Guy plays since preseason

Tonight get both TNT sides, plus the Spurs-Mavs total. But the big story is that it’s our Thursday Night CFB “Game of the Year” TCU-S Miss. Get that Wise Guy plus both ESPN NHL games. Today’s ENTIRE card is just $17 at www.godspicks.com or 1-900-263-7326 just $20 per call. That’s 1-900-26-DREAM! Now you can get via voicemail on the Charge-By-Phone. Details: 1-866-804-1303.

    VILLANOVA +11 Temple
As much as we hate those media clichés, this is one of those games in which you can throw out… Philadelphia “City Series” games very often defy the pointspread.

Well the oddsmakers have overreacted to some Villanova suspensions. However, the Wildcats will have their regular backcourt - sophomores Randy Foye and Allan Ray, and freshman Mike Nardi.

There is talent as Nardi is a top freshman and the other two are proven sophomores who will take advantage of the opportunity. Foye averaged 10.3 points a year ago and Ray averaged 9.9 points, playing primarily off the bench.

Don’t expect Temple to exactly dominate inside. The Owls could be without their only big man, sophomore Keith Butler. He sprained an ankle in last Friday’s exhibition win over EA Sports. Chaney has always been cautious when it comes to injuries.

More than any coach in the country, Temple’s John Chaney has his teams use the early season to peak late. This is always the time to play them. Temple started 3-11 a year ago before rebounding in the conference schedule, winning eight of nine for a respectable 18-16 finish (10-6 Atlantic 10).

It’s a long story, but because of NCAA mumbo jumbo and some scheduling issues, this game is starting after midnight local time. With John Chaney’s famous 6:00 AM practices, we look for that to be more of a disadvantage to Temple’s body clocks. The Owls will arrive at the Liacouras Center less than an hour before tipoff instead of their usual two hours.

Last year ‘Nova had so many off the court distractions that derailed a promising season, so they come into this one a bit undervalued. This game will be a very close one.
