Miami is coming off their first win of the season after dropping their first 7 contests to start the year. This could be a springboard and a big weight off their shoulders or it could be looked as it was only the Cavs that they beat. We were on the Cavs that night and they actually had a few chances late but some costly turnovers did them in. A win can do wonders but we feel that they digress back to where they were before.
Washington comes in at 3-4 and they might have found themselves the scorer they needed in the absence of Jerry Stackhouse. Gilbert Arenes is averaging 20 ppg this season and is coming off a 36-point performance in their loss to Philadelphia on Tuesday. The Wizards are in the top 10 in the NBA in FG% at 44.0% and points scored with 93.1 ppg. Defensively, they are 4th in FG% allowed at 40.8% and 11th in points allowed with 89.6 ppg. Their FG% and points differentials are both in the top 7 in the league. Miami is dead last in the NBA in scoring differential with a –11.4 deficit (79.1-90.5). They are also last in FG% differential with a –6.1% difference (38.8%-44.9%). In their game against Cleveland, it was only the 2nd time this season that they outshot their opponent.
The Wizards hold advantages on both sides of the ball and they are well aware that this is a very winnable game especially with San Antonio on deck for Saturday. Washington has won 3 of three last 4 meetings.
