Cleveland Cavaliers at Miami Heat 7:30 pm EST

    Cleveland +2 (2 Units)

The Cavs went beyond what they've done so far this season when they blew past, around and over the New York Knicks for their second consecutive victory. It took Cleveland 70 games last season to win two in a row and they only did it the one time so a new coach and a new attitude are already paying dividends. In their 2 games prior to their 2-game win streak, they lost those games by a total of only 5 points. Defense is doing the job as the Cavs are allowing 6 less points per game than a season ago and their FG% allowed has also dropped. "We stopped them (the Knicks) the first 10 possessions and that set the tone for us," coach Paul Silas said. "As long as we come out with a defensive mindset we're going to be all right." They should be ok against a Miami team that is only shooting 38.3% from the floor and are averaging an NBA second worst 79.2 ppg. The Cavs scored a season-high 31 points off the bench on Monday against New York.

Miami is coming off a game at Houston that pitted the brothers Van Gundy against each other so a letdown here is very possible. The season is seven games old, and there remains one recurring problem that should not be an issue for a team with plenty of young, fresh legs and that is a lack of energy. Coming off a game just last night, it most likely won’t improve much on Wednesday. The stringent defense of years past has vanished as the Heat are allowing 44.9% shooting, 26th in the league and 91.8 ppg. Cleveland is brimming with confidence while Miami is coming off an emotional game on Tuesday. We think the Cavs have what is takes to get their third win in a row, something that hasn’t been done since February 13, 2002.
