Pittsburgh - Wells +125 (3 Units)
The Mets have lost their last 8 games and 16 of their last 17. During this stretch, they have averaged 2.2 rpg while allowing over 4 rpg in the process. They have dropped Al Leiter’s last 3 starts with Leiter posting a 5.31 ERA during that time. Leiter has been pitching well at home but with the way the Mets offense is producing recently, it will take a near perfect outing for them to stay in this one. The Pirates have been playing decent, going 7-4 their last 11. Pittsburgh is 4-1 in Kip Wells’ last 5 starts, averaging 4.6 rpg. Wells’ ERA in his last 5 is a very respectable 1.35. The offense of Pittsburgh has put up over 6.6 rpg their last 11. New York is hitting .202 against righties their last 10 games while the Pirates are batting .309 against lefties during the same time. Leiter is by far the ace of this horrible team but even he should not be favored the way they have been playing of late.
