SAT NCAAF PICK: Tennessee vs. Kentucky
Tennessee quarterback Erik Ainge and the 19th-ranked Volunteers are 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the SEC. They face Kentucky who is 7-4 overall and 3-4 in a playoff game type situation today. The Volunteers lost to Florida and the Alabama early this year but yet could somehow with a win over the struggling Kentucky Wildcats land Tennessee in the SEC title. Tennessee would finish tied with Georgia atop the SEC East with a win and earn the berth to the title game because of its victory over the Bulldogs in October. The Volunteers have been on a four-game winning streak but they needed overtime to beat South Carolina last month and survived a scare by Vanderbilt when they rallied from a 16 points in the fourth quarter to defeat the Commodores. Tennessee will try to beat the Wildcats for the 23rd straight time today to get to Atlanta for the title game.The Wildcats have struggled since upsetting LSU on Oct. 13 losing three of four and falling out of the Top 25 but a win over the Volunteers would likely guarantee the Wildcats a bowl game. The Kentucky Wildcats averaged 42 points during their first eight games but that number has dropped to 18 points in their last three. Kentucky has lost their balance on offense because the running game has struggled due to injuries that has forced 4th stringer Derrick Locke to play a prominent role that hasn't made opponents pay for focusing on quarterback Andre Woodson who is one of the SEC's most potent passing attacks. The Tennessee Volunteers have owned the series for years winning 22 straight games which gives Kentucky the crown of having the longest losing streak against an opposing team in the NCAA right now. Tennessee is the better team once again for the 23rd straight time and they are playing for the SEC Eastern Division Championship today.
