Marcus Monk, Arkansas' career leader in touchdown receptions caught another last weekend after missing most of the season with a knee injury. He makes the Razorbacks much more dangerous on offense because he's going to draw two defenders every time opening up things for Heisman trophy candidate Mc Fadden. The Razorbacks are No. 1 in the Southeastern Conference in total offense which is little misleading because of there their weak non-conference schedule like last week when Arkansas handed Florida International its 20th straight loss in a 58-10 rout. The Hogs are 5-3 and 1-3 in the conference with a one-dimensional offense leading the conference in rushing but 10th in passing. The 6-foot-6 Monk will change that because he provides more space for Arkansas' dynamic running backs. McFadden, the 2006 Heisman Trophy runner-up has run for 993 yards this year. He has been bothered by some nagging injuries over the last month but the star's health is improving. In last years game at South Carolina, the Razorbacks' offense was balanced with McFadden running for 219 yards, Casey Dick throwing for 228 yards and Monk caught eight passes for 192 yards. Arkansas held on to win 26-20 and it wouldn't have been that close if not for Blake Mitchell. The South Carolina quarterback relieved Syvelle Newton and threw for 213 yards and a pair of second-half touchdowns. Mitchell will start this weekend for the first time since Sept. 22. Last weekend, he came off the bench in relief of Chris Smelley and was 31-of-45 for 290 yards and a touchdown against Tennessee. He also ran for a TD. South Carolina who is 6-3 overall and 3-3 in the conference rallied from a 21-0 half-time deficit but lost 27-24 in overtime. The Gamecocks offense is clicking but their defense is still 10th in the league against the run. South Carolina did hold the Vols to 101 yards rushing but Tennessee doesn't have McFadden. The Arkansas star has rushed for 406 yards in two career games against the Gamecocks. South Carolina players will honor students killed in last weekend's beach house fire with stickers on their helmets. Six of the students killed in the fire in Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., attended South Carolina. A seventh attended Clemson. All the offensive stars are healthy and ready to play today which will result in a lot of points on scoreboard. Big Advantage to both offenses today.
