Oakland Raiders at Tennessee Titans 1:00 PM ET

Tennessee returns home following a two-game road swing in which it split after winning at Houston last week. The Titans remain a team that could surprise and the return of Vince Young is a big factor even though Kerry Collins played well against the titans last Sunday. Tennessee has been very consistent as it has outgained all but one opponent this year, the lone exception being Indianapolis and that was only a 68-yard deficit. The Titans are 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games overall.
Oakland has dropped two straight games, the last being a home loss to Kansas City and now the Raiders travel east, a bad situation for a west coast team as explained later. The running game, which flourished for a while, has suddenly gone south again as Oakland is coming off a 55-yard performance against the Chiefs after getting outgained by 153 yards on the ground against the Chargers. The Raiders are 0-7 ATS in their last seven games after scoring less than 15 points in their previous game.
Tennessee has the fifth-best rushing offense in the NFL at 144.0 ypg and has allowed only nine sacks this season. Chris Brown is a gametime decision but the Titans did just fine without him last week, gaining 155 yards rushing led by LenDale White’s 104 yards. The Raiders rank 29th in the NFL in run defense and 25th in the pass-rushing department and with Young back under center, Oakland's inability to rush the passer may become yet more obvious.
Oakland is 4th in the league in rushing offense but as mentioned, it has been going the wrong way. The Raiders will have a challenge going against a Titans defense giving up just 59.7 rushing ypg which leads the NFL. The Titans enter Sunday’s game with the NFL’s second-best streak of games without allowing an individual 100-yard rushing performance at 12 straight contests. The near implosion by the Titans last week against Houston where they allowed 29 points will help with their motivation this week.
Oakland falls into a very solid go against situation, one that is a personal favorite and one that wins at an amazing clip. With the travel aspect of the Raiders, it brings in a solid situation favoring the Titans. Play against teams that are traveling two time zones and playing an early Sunday game. Those teams are a woeful 9-48 ATS (15.8 percent) since 2000. That includes a 1-8 ATS mark last season and a 1-4 ATS mark this year. The last was San Francisco losing to the Giants last week.
