Guys, in this matchup we have two pitchers going in opposite directions. Washington's Tim Redding has been solid all year. How solid? How about allowing 3 or less runs in 7 out of 8 starts!!! Why the 2-3 record? You guessed it! No Run Support! When Redding has started for Washington, 7 of his 8 starts have gone Under the Total! In other words, he pitches great, and keeps his team in the game, but only has 2 wins out of 7 quality starts to show for his efforts. Redding will be facing a Houston team that has scored 3 or less runs in 5 straight games, while maintaining only a .245 Batting Average in their last 10 games.
The other pitcher in tonight's game is Jason Jennings. Jennings started the season by allowing 3 runs or less in 7 out of 9 starts. He ran into trouble in the 2nd half of the season and hasn't been able to get back on track. What I see here is an opportunity for Jennings to have a rare 2nd Half Quality Start. He will be facing a Washington team that has scored 2 or less runs in 9 of their last 11 losses. They have struggled with a .223 Batting Average in their last 10 games, and .239 their last 10 road games. Even if Jennings is not at his best, runs will be at a premium tonight!!!
Take the Under 9 -105 for 3-Units!!!
