They have won four games in a row including last night's thriller over these Giants. Tom Glavine gets the nod for the Mets tonight. The Lefty is 5-2 with a 3.39 ERA on the year. The 41-year-old turned in arguably his best effort of the season at San Francisco on May 8, limiting the Giants to one run in a season-high seven innings of the Met's 4-1 victory. He is 20-15 with a 3.54 ERA in 43 lifetime starts against the Giants.
The Giants trail the National League West by 5.5 games behind the Dodgers, and under Manager Bruce Bochy are 24-26 on the season. They have lost four games in a row, and are suffering on Offense. Barry Zito takes the mound for the Giants tonight. The Lefty is 4-5 with a 4.70 ERA on the year. He has lost three consecutive road starts, giving up 16 runs and walking 13 in 17 innings since a victory at Colorado. His lone start against the Mets was a victory on May 7. He makes his debut after leaving the Disabled List, and the 28 year old won at least 14 games in each of the last three seasons and has pitched 200 or more innings in each of the last two. He is coming off a strong rehabilitation stint last week at Double-A Akron, where he struck out seven batters in five scoreless innings. The Indians look to sweep another Series with a win here tonight, and go for four wins in a row as well.
The Blue Jays of the American League East under their Manager John Gibbons are 13-14 on the season. They have been Even Stephen over their last 10 events at 5-5. The Blue Jays hand the ball to Dustin McGowan tonight. The Right-hander was called up to replace Gustavo Chacin who went on the DL after his last start. McGowan was 0-2 with a 1.64 ERA in five starts in the minors this season. The Blue Jays look to prevent a series sweep with a win here tonight.
