Appalachian St. Mountaineers vs. College of Charleston Cougars 8:20 PM ET
Appalachian St. Mountaineers -2 -105
Appalachian St. is rolling along right now and is playing the best basketball in the conference right now, the only exception being Davidson but not far behind. The Mountaineers have won eight straight games and only one of those contests was a close game, a two-point road win at Wichita St. Appalachian St.’s last six wins over conference teams have come by an average of 15.9 ppg while its last eight conference wins have seen an average margin of victory of 18.6 ppg so this team is playing its best basketball right now.
Charleston is playing very well also but it does not compare to the Mountaineers. While winning the majority of their most recent games, the Cougars are seeing a lot of close games and while winning those have been important, they are no match here. They lost all four regular season games to Appalachian St. and Davidson, the top two seeds in the tournament, by an average of 10 ppg with three of those coming by double digits including both against the Mountaineers. Breaking that run now will be tough.
The Mountaineers have been winning big thanks to their stellar defense. Appalachian St.’s defense has held its last eight opponents to an average of 61.2 ppg with four of the eight being held to under 60 points. Six of its last 10 opponents have shot 37 percent or worse from the floor.
For the entire season in 31 games, 19 times the opponents have been held below their scoring average and that includes Charleston in both meetings as the Cougars were held to 56 and 57 points which are roughly 12 to 13 points below their season average.
Appalachian St. is 10-5 against the number when favored while the Cougars are just 1-6 ATS as an underdog this season. The Mountaineers are also a solid 9-3 ATS against teams with a winning record. Even though this is not a true road game, Charleston does have the home edge but that sets up a situation for the Mountaineers. Play on road teams where the line is +3 to -3 coming off three consecutive conference wins in March games. This situation is 49-19-3 ATS (72.1 percent) since 1997 including wins in 25 of 30 matchups over the last three seasons. Play Appalachian St. Mountaineers 1 Unit

Golden St. Warriors at New York Knicks 7:30 PM ET
New York Knicks -5 -105
Both teams have key injuries as the Warriors are without their best player (Baron Davis averaging 20.7 PPG and 8.7 APG) and possibly swingman Stephen Jackson (who scored 36 points when the Warriors crushed the Knicks on Feb 14 in Oakland). The Knicks may have lost Crawford (17.9) for the year and PF David Lee, averaging a double-double, is once again questionable. However, I'm sticking with the home team, as the Warriors have lost five straight on the road (12 of their last 14) and own the league's second-worst road record this season (6-23). The Knicks are greatly improved this year (already own more wins than all of last season) and when the Warriors beat them in Oakland on Valentine's Day, the Knicks were coming off a win the night before in LA over the Lakers. The Knicks face no such "let down" situation here and should win handily over the poor-traveling Warriors. Play New York Knicks
