Boise St. Broncos at Fresno St. Bulldogs 10:00 PM ET
Fresno St. Bulldogs -4.5 -110
Fresno St. will be playing its final home game of the season on Thursday where it is 14-3 on the year including a 5-2 record in WAC action. The Bulldogs went 12-2 at home last season in Steve Cleveland’s first year as head coach and are now 26-5 in his two-year tenure. They are coming off two huge road wins last week and that has vaulted the Bulldogs into postseason contention, something that was a mere dream before the season started. There hasn't been post-season basketball here for five years and another quality wins gets them that much closer.
Boise St. has had the luxury of playing four straight games at home where it is a solid 13-2 on the season. Playing on the road is a different story however as the Broncos are just 3-8 including a 2-4 record in the MAC. Those two victories came against Idaho and San Jose St. who are a combined 4-25 in the conference. Boise St. is getting outscored by just three ppg on the road but a couple of blowout wins have skewed that average. The Broncos close out the season at Hawaii on Saturday so there is no doubt a little peeking ahead there.
Defense has been the name of the game for the Bulldogs this season. They lead the WAC in points allowed with 64.6 ppg while opponents are shooting just 38.2 percent from the floor which is 7th best in the nation. Fresno St. is allowing only 30.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc, which is 16th in the country. The Bulldogs are also 8th in the nation in blocked shots. All of these averages get even better at home. Fresno St. has a +11.8 ppg scoring margin and a +8.5 percent shooting margin on its home floor.
The road wins by Fresno St. last week have put the Bulldogs into a very profitable situation for this contest. Play on home favorites off two or more consecutive upset wins as an underdog, a well rested team that is playing just their second game in a span of seven days. This situation is 78-43-5 ATS (64.5 percent) over the last five years with the average point differential being +8.4 ppg in those 126 games. Look for the Bulldogs to keep the dominance going at home while the Broncos struggle yet again on the road against a quality opponent. Play Fresno St. Bulldogs 1 Unit
