After making a nice run earlier in the season the Blue jays have come back to earth and are no longer in the playoff chase. Seattle, however is still playing for a spot in the past season. Seattle starter Gil Meche has done his part to help the Mariners stay in the race. Meche is 3-0 with a 2.37 ERA in his last 3 starts overall. Gil should be able to slow down the Blue Jays hitting attack enough to keep Seattle in the game late. Mariners are playing each game with playoff type atmosphere in Safeco Field and that will be a nice advantage.
7:35 Atlanta -200 (Ortiz 16-5 3.42) over San Diego (Peavy 9-8 4.11)
After getting pounded on Tuesday 14-4, the Braves bounced back nicely last night with a 7-1 win over these same Padres. The Braves will send Padres killer Russ Ortiz. Ortiz is 10-2 with a 3.65 ERA lifetime against San Diego. The Braves should be ready to play a good game tonight. Atlanta is 16-4 (+12 units) on Thursday games this season. Look fro Atlanta to continue there solid play on Thursdays and get the Win with Russ Ortiz leading the way.
7:10 Arizona -200 (Webb 7-5 2.45) over Cincinnati (Harang 2-3 5.85)
The Diamondback's got another victory against the Red's last night in Cincinnati. The Diamondbacks have dominated the Reds in the recent past. Arizona is 16-1 in their last 17 games against the Reds over the last 3 seasons. Cincinnati has played some terrible baseball and come into play tonight having lost 3 straight games and 8 of their last 9 overall. Arizona will put the ball in the hands of Brandon Webb. Webb has allowed just 13 earned runs in 66+ innings pitched on the road this season. Look for Arizona to come out & play a good solid game and get the win over the slumping Reds.
