OHIO STATE BUCKEYES @ CINCINNATI BEARCATS SAT 12/16/06 3:45 PM EST ON CBS
This has been a tough early start for first year head coach Mick
Cronin of the Bearcats. Yes he has six wins, but also losses to
Wofford, UAB, at home are exposing this club . There was a time
the Shoemaker Center was almost a guarantee for victory. Follow that
2 pack with today's opponent Ohio State and you might as well
call it a " triple play slam." This is a Buckeye team LOADED (very young),
but let me say again LOADED with talent. It is very possible that
two of the freshmen will go directly to the NBA at the conclusion of
this season, and 7-1 Greg Oden will probably be the #1 selection.
The only blemish on OSU's record is a loss at North Carolina, a game
they led for the whole first half, but just wore down since they were
ploaying without Oden. You heard it first here, if they meet again
in the tournamant take OSU. Two of the Buckeye's top three scorers
are freshman, and three of the top five. As you can see, not just
the football team is dreaming of a national title.
Cincy has little to counteract the size and inside dominance on the
boards with a front line of 6-8, 6-6 and 6-6. They had two 6-10
players in camp, but one juco (Hernol Hill) has left the team, and
Huyganiak (international player) was ruled ineligible till next year.
This is a Bearcat team that is headed for a .500 season if Cronin
can keep the troups heads up as they head into the very tough Big
East. Take the Buckeyes to THRASH the cats on CBS Saturday
afternoon.
