I believe last week Punisher asked a question regarding line moves and which moves were more meaningful.....
I always believed the early money was the smart money.
Here's what I found last week in the NCAAF (Using CRIS lines only)
There were 20 games in which the lines moved immediately after being posted on Sunday. Of those 20 games 12 moved more than 1 point.
Making a prediction based solely on those moves (staying with the smart money?) the ATS results were an even 10 - 10.
In the 12 games where the lines moved more than 1 pt 5-7.
Now the interesting part......
Staying with the original 20 games.
Playing with the later line moves would have resulted in a 14-6 ATS record.
An ex of how I did this would be GTech vs. NCSt...
The line opened at GT -4. At first movement it went to -5. (Early money playing GT) At closing the line moved to GT -3.5 (Late money going on NC st.) NC state as we know won outright. Early lost late won.
I hope this helps or answers any questions.
Now remember that these results may not be the norm I was only able to test this last week, but I am willing to believe the may very well be.......
