Just about everytime there is an injury to a star in the NBA someone starts a new thread or posts a reply to avoid or play against the team with the injury. I've posted many times that is a good opportunity to play on the team with the injury. Especially good teams. The good teams are good because of the supporting cast they have around their star. Short-term, about 3 or 4 games, teams rise to the occassion. It's the opportunity for roll players to shine. Also, the other players on the team have something to prove. Long-term is when the injuries take their toll on the team performance.
Iverson has missed 5 games this season. In those games Philly is 1-4 SU More importantly they are 3-2 ATS
Miami without Shaq 1-0 ATS. They were home vs. Boston laying only 3 points. Normally they'd be about -9. Vegas adjusted the line approx 6 points
Cleveland lost SU but covered ATS on Friday night without Lebron
The Lakers out of the gate without Kobe went 3-1 SU and ATS. Since then they've lost 3 straight.
Even the Pacers with all their suspension went 3-0 ATS.
The lone exception is the injury to Steve Nash. Without Nash the Suns lost 3 straight. Every 'system' can't win all the games.
This has been my observation the past few season in the NBA. I don't have an exact record. I've been playing teams with the injuries and have done quiet well. It's something that I will continue to follow. I'll keep fellow members informed.
Finally, watch the line and wait. The public loves betting against the team with the injury.
