  • Top female golfer to play in men's PGA

I don't think I'll have Annika Sorenstam in one of our "Matchuups"
anytime soon, but the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association)
    has taken on the PGA.

For the first time since 1945, a woman will compete against the men.

The place: The Colonial Golf Tournament.

How will it work?: She will be given no quarter. Annika, whom you may have seen on a prime time ABC television golf special with Tiger Woods, will have to hit from the mens tees. (Women's tees are normally 20-yards closer to the hole on a Par 3 and as much as 50-yards on a Par 5).

She will have to follow all PGA (mens) rules and she will have to play as many holes as the men.

After thinking about this, which just crossed my desk, I do know a few of the men she can beat, if the course is short and has narrow fairways.

I think I'd like the opportunity, after all, to see how her research comes out against a male pro.

Golf just got another kick....continuing to flourish on its own "inside moves", while other sports anguish over money, money and more money for the players.

PS. I have received 3 so-called "PM". My first. They came during the 48 hours I was not taking emails or calls to try and give you a winner in the Buick Open. But I just logged on and found them, all blank. Unless I'm technically insufficient on using this extra means of communication, pardon my non-reply as I have no idea why they are w/o content. Thanks for thinking of us and the next one as with numbers 2 & 3, we'll try yet another opening procedure.
