SOCCER GENIUS PICKS
2/1/03 - 2/2/03
Chelsea vs. Tottenham - Saturday
Chelsea were lucky to beat a tenacious Leeds at home on Tuesday, but persevered with 2 late goals to win 3-2. Spurs, on the other hand, succumbed to a 90th minute winner against Newcastle in a game where they were, by all accounts, playing the better football. However, this (as a rotund Englishman I know likes to say) is Spurs' bogey team. Add to this the fact that Spurs have no strikers left (after the departure of Keane against Newcastle) and you have a tough prospect on offer. Go with Chelsea to take this one without Spurs scoring....... 10 points win Chelsea. 5 points Chelsea 2-0. 5 points Chelsea 1-0.
Manchester City vs. West Brom - Saturday
Robbie Fowler joins Nicolas Anelka up front for City. And West Brom continue to struggle. The 1/2 odds offered on City looks like taking candy from a baby. This could be a several goal match, but I can't see West Brom scoring more than 1. A creative midfield and superb strike force means that City are now only lacking at the back, where they can be unpredictable.
Still...... 20 points win Manchester City.
Southampton vs. Manchester United - Saturday
One thing's for sure in this game. It will be raining in Southampton. Some good recent form and a decent home record (they have only lost once at St. Mary's this season) means that this is by no means a romp for the Red Devils. However, the recent form of Manchester United cannot be denied. Keane is back in the side and at full fitness, Forlan is scoring when needed, Van Nistelrooy is as strong as ever and Scholes is playing some of the best football ever. Expect United to persevere from sheer will.......10 points win Manchester United. 10 points correct score 1-3 Manchester United. 5 points Van Nistelrooy to score first.
And the long shot of the week........If you have a good Saturday try 10 points on West Ham to beat Liverpool at Upton Park on Sunday. Liverpool are having a dreadful second half to the season, and West Ham finally won one at home midweek. Confidence and expectations are high that they will continue their run out of the relegation zone.
SOCCER GENIUS RECORD
SIDES 5-2
PROPOSITIONS 2-1
OVERALL RECORD 7-3
Good luck,
