I posted what I felt was a strong total Tuesday on the OVER in the Celtics-Pacers game, expecting Paul Pierce to have a big game and Boston's awful defense to give up lots of points. I was wrong about Pierce but right about the second. The game went over by 12 1/2 points.
The OVER is now 2-0 in this series. The total, not surprisingly, is higher for this game---185 last I checked. Play it OVER again. I still believe Pierce will break out, particularly at home, even though Indiana's defense is wisely obsessed with stopping him. But more importantly, Indiana has now gone over 100 four games in a row and Boston has given up 100 or more eight of its last ten and the over is 8-2 in that stretch. Eventually, a game in this series might go under but until it does I think it makes sense to keep playing the over because the fundamentals favor it. This is not as strong a play as Tuesday's....but I still think it's a very logical pick.
