Last week, NFL Fever on Monday Night got back on the winning track with its upset pick of Pittsburgh over Tampa Bay. Fever improved its record to 11-4 this season, and has correctly picked 11 of the last 13 Monday Night winners.(13-2 ats)

This week, NFL Fever on Monday Night features the NFC West Champion San Francisco 49ers and the disappointing St. Louis Rams from the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis

    Game Summary

San Francisco had already clinched the NFC West division title and a spot in the playoffs, but regardless of this game's outcome the Niners had no shot of getting the first-round bye. So it looked as though San Francisco decided to take this week off instead.

With their starters seeing limited action, the 49ers looked vulnerable from the get-go. St. Louis QB Jamie Martin hit tight end Ernie Conwell on a 4-yard touchdown pass early in the first quarter to put the Rams up, 7-0. Shortly after San Francisco's offense went three and out, Martin drove the Rams into the red zone again and hit Torry Holt on a 2-yard score.

Midway through the second quarter, San Francisco finally got on the board when Jeff Garcia found Terrell Owens on a 44-yard touchdown pass to cut the Rams lead to 14-7. But just before halftime, Jamie Martin connected with Ernie Conwell again, this time for a 30-yard touchdown. The Rams took the lead into halftime, 21-7.

As the second half began, 49ers head coach Steve Mariucci pulled his starters as a precautionary tactic. Backup QB Tim Rattay replaced Jeff Garcia, and threw his first touchdown pass of the season to Cedric Wilson in hopes of bringing the Niners back. But in the end, St. Louis held on for the win—21-14 in a meaningless game.

Jaime Martin was named this week's Player of the Game as he finished 15 of 18 for 144 yards and 3 passing touchdowns.
