Feds Target Online Players: Internet poker players who are owed money may be out of pocket, if the Justice Department has its way. It's seeking to freeze the assets, including $33 million that's due to players, of PokerStars.com, FullTiltPoker.com, and two other sites. Online players' payment checks started bouncing after banks bowed to the government edict, which had remained secret until last weekend. Ironically, it is not illegal to place an online bet in New York State, where the federal injunction was filed.
