Tech and their tidal-wave offense enter the fray averaging 37ppg on 483ypg. Passing offense (383 YP per) and "Sling"sbury (669 pass attempts on the year) get all the pub, but a solid rushing attack (100 YR per) emerges due to the multitude of defensive backs. Defense is awful, allowing opposing offenses to score 33ppg.
Clemson defense could be up to the task, holding opponents to just 24ppg, but was ravaged by Georgia (31pts), FSU (48pts), NC State (38pts) and Maryland (30pts) – all teams with far less productive, yet more predictable offenses than Tech. Clemson offense is averaging 26ppg on 363ypg. Offense somewhat balanced (127 YR, 236 YP), and should have banner day against porous Tech defense…..
Tech defense will give up plenty of points and yards in this one, but the Clemson offense won’t be good enough to outscore the Red-Raiders in a shootout. In what should be a high-scoring very entertaining game, Tech’s offense should win by more than 5.
